Discover the must-sees within walking distance of the house

Saint-Front Cathedral
Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site as part of the Routes of Santiago de Compostela, Saint-Front Cathedral is Périgueux's emblematic monument. Famous for its Byzantine domes, it is one of the largest churches in the Périgord. Restored in the 19th century by the architect Paul Abadie, it impresses with its volumes and light. It is the ideal first stop for visiting Périgueux and immersing yourself in eight centuries of history.

Vesunna, Gallo-Roman Museum
Designed by the architect Jean Nouvel, the Vesunna museum protects the remains of a Gallo-Roman domus and traces the history of the ancient town of Vesunna. Interactive exhibitions, mosaics and open-air remains: an unmissable visit to understand the Roman origins of Périgueux.

The medieval old town
Périgueux's historic centre, a protected heritage area, charms visitors with its medieval and Renaissance heritage: cobbled lanes, half-timbered houses, mansions and hidden squares. Strolling on foot, you will discover an authentic atmosphere reflecting several centuries of history. From the holiday home, this old quarter can be explored in a short walk, ideal in the morning before heading to the town's markets.

Mataguerre Tower and its surroundings
Built in the 14th century, the Mataguerre Tower is one of the last remnants of Périgueux's medieval fortifications. This emblematic tower, which once guarded the entrance to the town, bears witness to the Périgord's defensive past. Within walking distance of the holiday home, it fits perfectly into a tour of the old town, between military heritage and picturesque lanes.

The Voie Verte greenway
The Voie Verte of the Isle Valley is a dedicated route, ideal for walking or cycling. Running alongside the river Isle, it offers a pleasant natural setting to discover the landscapes of the Dordogne at your own pace.

The Périgueux market
Held mainly on Place de la Clautre and Place du Coderc, the market is a must for discovering the flavours of the Périgord. In a friendly atmosphere, local producers and artisans offer regional specialities, fresh produce and typical Dordogne treats. A true place of life and encounters, it reflects the authenticity and know-how of the Périgord.
